Will talk it out with Karnataka: CM
Border disputes and water issues to be settled through dialogue
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy said on Wednesday that all pending issues with Karnataka, whether it is an inter-state water dispute or any other issue, will be resolved amicably by holding talks.
The Chief Minister who was campaigning in Karnataka for the Congress party on the second day, talked to the media on issues concerning both the states. He said that resolving all disputes among states is not impossible if they sit together and discuss. Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said he will abide by whatever view the Supreme Court takes on the dispute with regard to the fixation of boundaries of iron ore mines situated on either side of the APKarnataka border.
Replying to a question, he said that he was also waiting to know the final decision of the Centre on the Telangana statehood issue and added that an announcement was being delayed because of the sensitivity and complexity attached to the issue. He said that both AP and Karnataka have many things in common including their special attachment to the Congress.
“Both states came to the rescue of the Congress party in 1978 when the party was routed in other states. Again, the late Indira Gandhi was elected from Chikmagalur in Karnataka and Medak in Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
He also predicted that the outcome of the Karnataka Assembly polls now, will set the trend in favour of the Congress party ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. He said that Karnataka people who have been deprived of any progress and welfare for the last ten years due to the inefficient administration of the BJP, are now looking to the Congress for bringing the glory back.
