Riteish has no plans to join politics

- PRIYANKA KELKAR DECCAN CHRONICLE

It seems Riteish Deshmukh has returned to his roots with a vengeance. The Bollywood actor recently tasted success with his first Marathi film — Balak Palak — which he produced, and that seems to have given him the impetus to launch his next film, Lal Bhari. While Balak Palak was high on entertainment with a message, Riteish warns that not all his regional language films will follow the same formula.

“I am not trying to make a film with a message every time. Some films have messages, but some people cannot understand them. As a producer, I also want my films to be entertaining. The choices I make as a producer may not be the choices I make as an actor,” says Riteish.

Apart from his regional forays, Riteish says he is busy shooting for Sajid Khan’s upcoming film with Saif Ali Khan. He refutes rumours that he has a negative role in the film adding, “That’s something I haven’t done so far, and I’m not doing it with this film either.”

The actor also took time to refute several rumours like fatherhood: “I am not going to be a dad!”, joining the IPL: “I have a CCL team already” and embracing politics: “I’m not looking to join any political parties, my brother is already into politics. It is a completely different area from what our understanding of it is”. Clearly, the glamour world has Riteish firmly occupied. But for how long?
