Konda couple might join Congress soon

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, MAY 3

Will former minister Konda Surekha and her husband, former MLC Konda Murali, remain in the YSR Congress or land up in the Congress? This will be known in a couple of days.

The couple is staying away from YSRC activities as the party leadership did not concede to their demand. According to sources, the YSRC leadership asked party MLA Balineni Srinivasa Reddy to pacify the couple. They had demanded that the selection of party candidates in all constituencies of Warangal district be given to them, but the party leadership asked them to look after Parakala and Bhoopalapally Assembly constituencies alone.

Unhappy with this, they decided to abstain from party activities. In the past, Konda Surekha was always with Jagan or Vijayamma at all party programmes everywhere. However, since the last few days, she has not been attending any party programme or meeting. Senior YSRC leaders requested her to participate in the Rachchabanda programme conducted by honorary party president Y.S. Vijayalakshmi in Rangareddy district three days ago, but she did not oblige.

According to YSRC circles, they have lost hope on the Konda couple and are trying to fill up the gap. The Konda couple have also decided to wait some more time before taking a final decision on their political future. They plan to join the Congress at an appropriate time. The Congress High Command, it is learnt, has decided to appoint D. Srinivas as the PCC chief in place of Botsa Satyanarayana, and when this happens, the Konda couple plans to join the Congress under the leadership of Mr Srinivas.
