Broker kills son, wife

A debt ridden 40-yearold stockbroke­r allegedly killed his wife and son before attempting to commit suicide on Wednesday by jumping into the Hussain Sagar Lake. He was, however, rescued by the Lake police.

K. Ramesh gave an overdose of sleeping pills to his wife, K. Parvathi, 35, and their son Vasudev, 10, at his house in Gajularama­ram village, Jeedimetla and attempted suicide after ensuring that both were dead.

After he was rescued by the police, Ramesh revealed that he had killed his family and that their bodies were in his house. He told the police that he had suffered huge losses in the stock market and hence decided to take the extreme step. At around 12.10pm, the Lake police noticed a person jumping into the lake from a tourist boat near the Buddha Statue.

“We rushed and pulled him out of the water. After being rescued, he started crying and was surprised by our act. When we inquired, he revealed that he had committed the murders,” said Lake police inspector K. Ramesh.

Following this, the Lake police informed Balanagar ACP P. Nagaraja Reddy and handed over Ramesh to the Jeedimetla police to whom he revealed that he had mixed sleeping pills in soft drinks and made his wife and son drink.

The Jeedimetla police found the two bodies from Ramesh’s flat at VSR Towers. A Clues team and forensic experts visited the spot.

“We are investigat­ing the issue to see if there is any other motive behind the murders,” said Jeedimetla inspector M. Sudarshan. The bodies were sent for autopsy and Ramesh was taken for medical exam. A case of under Section 302 of IPC was registered.
