4 students booked for ragging junior

Cases also against hostel owner, warden

Adilabad I Town police on Thursday registered cases against six individual­s in connection with four seniors of Sanjay Gandhi Polystechn­ic College allegedly physically and mentally torturing a junior on the night of September 3.

The cops registered cases under Section 4 of the Prohibitio­n of Ragging Act, 1997, following a complaint lodged by the victim, one Khethan of Madaram town of Tandur mandal.

Police sources said

Khethan had been forcefully taken from the hostel where he was staying to a secluded place in the evening and tortured till midnight.

Four senior students allegedly removed his clothes and beat him and asked him to beg for pardon by holding their feet.

The accused were identified as Mohd Abdul Reheman of Gollapet in Nirmal, Krishnawat­h Raju of Pulimadugu Mandamarri, Naveen and Hareesh.

Police has also registered cases against Rajesh, warden of the private hostel and the hostel owner N. Venkatesh.
