3-WAY METHOD TO CONSTRUCT AP CAPITAL

- S.N.C.N. ACHARYULU | DC

The AP government has decided to construct buildings in its capital city using

three methods. But it will depend on the funds given

by the Centre. The state wants to build some buildings on its own, some buildings in the Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) mode and some other buildings through the Public Private Partnership (PPP) system. In the capital city, the main

buildings are the Raj Bhavan, Assembly, the Secretariat and the High Court. The state will construct these buildings on its own. According to state estimates the Raj Bhavan will

cost 390 crore, the HC

` 1,150 crore and the Asse

` mbly and Secretariat build

ings 2010 crore. Guest

` houses, roads, sewerage system and others will be constructed using the BOT sys

tem. Minister’s quarters, government office buildings like directorates and others

will be constructed in the PPP mode. The construction of the capital city and getting funds from the Centre

will start only after the Singapo-re government sub

mits its master plan. According to the agreement, the Singap-ore government

has to submit the master plan in June but it has promised to give it by May. The

government sent several proposals to the Centre on the capital city for sanction

of funds. But the Centre told the state that it is possible to sanction funds only

after submitting the Detailed Project Report.
