COPS ARREST BURGLAR GANG AFTER CHASE

The gang was caught following a tip-off from the Nalgonda police

The AP police has not found any links between the gang and Simi

A Madhya Pradeshbas­ed gang was picked up by the AP police near Nandyal in Kurnool district on Monday after a hot pursuit and tracking their mobile phones.

Following informatio­n from the Nalgonda police that five suspects were near Tirupati, the AP police began tracking them and caught them at Nandyal.

A top official of AP police said, “So far we have questioned the gang. They are not linked to Simi. However, we have asked the MP police to verify.

After receiving infor- mation from the Nalgonda police stating that they had been tracked at Tirupati we followed it up. All of them are from MP. We suspect their involvemen­t in robbery.”

Police said a series of thefts had taken place in Nalgonda, Kadapa and Nellore in the recent past. In Yerraguntl­a of Kadapda seven houses were robbed.

“We are questionin­g them. They could be thieves. We have also sought the MP police’s help to clear out all doubts, ” DGP J.V. Ramudu said. “Everyone taken into custody cannot be branded as terror suspects,” he added.

“There are rumors that those who have been picked up are Simi terror suspects. We have apprehende­d several suspects in Vijayawada, Nellore and Kurnool. We have intensifie­d checks,” Mr Ramudu said.
