Woman driver hits cart, 2 hurt

A woman crashed her SUV into an ice-cream cart and injured two young passersby and the vendor after midnight on Tuesday at Banjara Hills.

The Banjara Hills police has said that the accused driver is suspected to be the relative of Dr K. Anji Reddy, the founder of Dr Reddy Laboratori­es as the car, a white Honda CRV (AP 09 CQ 5544), is registered to Dr Reddy’s Labs. The police has confiscate­d the car.

Two driving licenses bearing the names — Mallika Reddy and Sanjana Reddy — were found in the car, but the cops said that they were still to confirm who was driving.

“We are yet to confirm the identity of the accused driver. It is also yet to be ascertaine­d whether the driver was drunk or not,” said West Zone DCP A. Venkateswa­ra Rao.

were shifted to a hospital. Banjara Hills police said the ice-cream vendor only suffered minor injuries.

The accident took place at around 12.45 am on Road Number 12.

“The fast-moving Honda CRV car rammed into the cart and hit three people before it stopped. The trio were injured and the cart was completely damaged,” said a police official.

Mr Salam and Mr Ibrahim were coming from Masab Tank to Road Number 12 Banjara Hills via KBR Park when they stopped for an ice-cream.

They lodged a police complaint early on Wednesday, after which police booked a case and started investigat­ion
