KCR makes ministers to sweat it out

- C.R. GOWRI SHANKER | DC HYDERABAD, MAY 12

It is terribly hot, but we can’t avoid it. This is the right time for us to be with people and ascertain their problems. There are no complaints on power or even water, but many are seeking houses and others benefits from the government — A TRS MINISTER

Braving the sweltering heat, Telangana ministers are crisscrossing the state to participate in a spate of governmental programmes.

A fiat from Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to ascertain problems faced by people and take up developmental programmes on a war footing has led to ministers hitting the road in all the districts.

Among the most prolific mover is irrigation minister T. Harish Rao, who is rushing from one tank to another, to participate in desilting programmes in Mission Kakatiya.

Being Mr Rao’s pet progamme, along with Telangana Water Grid, ministers make their presence felt in their constituencies and other parts of the state, carrying silt bowls on their heads in the hot sun. Some symbolically took to digging with crowbars with towels as headgear to beat the heat.

Roads and buildings minister Tummala Nageswara Rao laid the foundation stone for a road at Cheemalapadu in Karepalli mandal of Khammam district on Tuesday. Along with him, several local leaders participated.

Sources said that the CM had issued a fiat to all ministers to ascertain problems of people in their constituencies and in the other districts take up remedial measures and participate in developmental works.

In fact the CM himself attended to a spate of developmental works in his own Gajwel Assembly seat the other day. “It is terribly hot, but we can’t avoid it. This is the right time for us to be with people and ascertain their problems. There are no complaints on power or even water, but many are seeking houses and others benefits from the government,” a minister said.

Interestingly, its money and money all the way to Gajwel, the CM’s con- stituency. The government sanctioned `19 crore for the construction of an integrated government building and `11.25 crore for a hostel building.

Deputy CM Kadiam Srihari held a review meeting with officials at the Warangal collectorate on SC, ST, BC and minorities education issues. Ministers Etela Rajender, G. Jagadish Reddy, Jupally Krishna Rao, Laxman Reddy, Jogu Ramanna and others made several trips to their constituencies to participate in foundation stone laying and other state functions.
