Miyapur police said the victims came to their relative’s house at DRDL in Chandrayangutta a couple of days ago for a wedding. After the function was over on Tuesday they started back home in their WagonR car early on Wednesday morning. The vehicle was being driven by Srikanth and his mother was seated beside him.

“At around 3:50 am when they approached Deepthisrinagar junction the right front tyre of the car burst. Srikanth who was speeding lost control and went off the road. He rammed a board,” said a police official. All the passengers were injured in the mishap. Srikanth and Padmavathi sustained multiple injuries and died. Others were shifted to a hospital and are being treated. They are in the intensive care unit and kept under observation. Their condition is stable.

Based on a complaint by Padmavathi’s husband C. Durgaiah, a BHEL employee, a negligence case under section 304A was booked. The bodies were shifted to Gandhi Hospital and were later handed over to the family after postmortem.
