We want to finish in Top Two, says Bravo

- NEW DELHI, MAY 13

Chennai Super Kings have been one of the most consistent outfits in the Indian Premier League and allrounder Dwayne Bravo feels that avoiding too many changes in team composition is one of the secrets of their success.

“The most important thing is that we don’t chop and change the team. The management is doing a very good job, whether it’s in the auctions or selecting a playing XI.

“They try and stick to a core of players. Therefore the camaraderie and the team unity is there and that’s most important,” Bravo said on the sidelines of an event in the capital on Wednesday.

CSK have done well in the current IPL season as well, winning eight of their 13 matches to stay atop the points table so far. Bravo however, said that the team could not afford to relax in their quest for a third IPL title.

“If you are going to be a good team, you got to be a champion side. You got to beat whichever side you are up against. We definitely want to finish in the top two but let’s see what happens in the play-offs. Top-four is very important for us,” he added.Crediting the IPL for shaping the careers of many players, Bravo felt the tournament had helped Indian batsmen improve their skills against top class fast bowlers.

“IPL is helping every cricketer, not only West Indies players. Even the Indian players are benefiting. It’s because of IPL that Indian players are becoming the players they are today. Look at Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, they have all grown with the success of IPL.

“The Indians get to face the likes of Mitchell Johnson and Dale Steyn and many such top quality fast bowlers. Because the Indians play them in IPL so much, it gives them the confidence when they face them at the international level,” he said.
