Tiger mauls man clicking closeup

The tiger had strayed from Ranthambho­re reserve

In an attempt to click a close photograph of a tiger, a youngster was seriously attacked by the predator in Ranthambho­re National Park area on Thursday. Although the victim’s condition is said to be stable now, but he will have to undergo surgery for skin grafting as it came off his head by the blow of the tiger’s claws.

The incident, second with- in a week, took place in Khandar area on Thursday, when people gathered to see a strayed tiger from the Ranthambho­re National Park.

However, Satish Meena and Kuldeep Swami went a bit closer to the animal be able to take a photograph of the tiger sitting behind a bush. As they went closer, the tiger attacked them in which Satish sustained serious injuries on his head.

Earlier, a forest guard Rampal was killed in an attack by a T-24 tiger while he was out on petrol along with his two colleagues.

Forest officials said at this moment it was difficult to know the tiger that attacked these people but they have been tracing locations of the tigers and only after that they would be able to identify the one who attacked the youth.

Although, they said that this area belongs to T-30 tigers, who walk along with their cubs. They claimed that two forest guards present in that area had asked the crowd to stay back but no one listened to them.

Meanwhile, following two back to back incidents, the Ranthambho­re National Park authoritie­s have restricted entry into the park of two-wheelers and pedestrian­s. “Only registered fourwheele­rs will be allowed, keeping in mind safety of the people,” said deputy conservato­r Sudarshan Sharma.
