- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, FEB. 22

The parents of MS student C.M. Joy Noel Mathew, 24, who died in a car crash in the US, said that “He never failed in anything he did and was blessed with great intelligence but destiny had other plans.” Noel’s death destroyed the hopes his parents had about him.

Noel, who flew to the US in August 2015 left his family with memories of his last birthday, which fell on the day of his departure.

Noel and a 19-year-old US woman were killed in the accident when her car hit Noel’s car. Four of Noel’s AP friends suffered serious injuries. Joy Noel Mathew was the only son of music teacher C.A. Moses and Sheba Rani, a private school teacher. He has a younger sister named C.M. Joy Kitty Youleen.

Joy was a bright student. His family had never seen him tensed be it examina- tions or interviews. “He was always confident. He had no tension during the IELTS examination or visa interview,” said Mr Moses.

Noel’s brains surprised his relatives. He never carried books to college. “He helped my sons to learn mathematics. He used to solve complicated math problems without a calculator,” said his aunt Keziya Prabhaker.

Noel who was pursuing MS in computer science at the Troy University topped the first semester with 94 per cent. While pursuing degree final year at Little Flower Degree College, Uppal, he was hired by Wipro. Later he moved to ADP where he bagged the best employee award in 2013. He worked for a year at Google and went to the US.
