Get set to travel in Tejas soon

-

New Delhi, Feb. 25: Have you ever travelled in Tejas? Well, soon you can and thanks to railway minister Suresh Prabhu for that.

Tejas no longer is the name exclusively used by the IAF for its light combat aircraft. But the innovative minister has decided to christen the train ferrying passengers at the speed of 130kmph Tejas. The trains will offer onboard services such as entertainment, local cuisine and wi-fi through service providers, while ensuring accountability and improved customer satisfaction.

This year, the budget threw up some more namesakes. UDAY is now more than the path breaking reform for realising the Prime Minister’s vision of affordable and accessi- ble 24x7 power for all. A new meaning has ‘risen’ for it. Soon it will be an overnight double-decker train running on the busiest routes as well.

Also, the promised Humsfar trains are not to be confused with existing Duranto trains launched during the tenure of then railway minister Mamata Banerjee.

While Duranto trains run non-stops with just technical halts, Haumsfar trains will be will be a fully air-conditioned 3AC service with option of meals.

Humsafar and Tejas will ensure cost-recovery by way of tariff and non-tariff measures.

For the unreserved passenger, the railway minister announced Antyodaya Express and Deen Dayalyu coaches.
