2-YEAR-OLD ROBBERY SOLVED

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad task force police solved a two-year-old robbery case which occurred in Begum Bazaar. Police said a goldsmith travelling in an autoricksh­aw with two kg gold jewellery was robbed after sprinkling chilli powder in his eyes. Police arrested six persons including the victim’s nephew Shaik Imran Ali, a goldsmith, Md Waseem, a courier service employee, Md Mujahid, a BCom computers student, Mujeebuddi­n, an employee of Pista House, Md Azam, a butcher and Md Shoukath, a businessma­n. Saleem an advocate who helped them and another Zubair are absconding. Police also seized 800 grams of gold and 1.5 lakh from them. Additional DCP taskforce N. Koti Reddy said that in August 2014 when Amzad Ali was on way to Lakdikapul in an auto, the gang robbed his two kilo gold jewellery. When police suspected Imran and called him for questionin­g, he approached Saleem an advocate and admitted before him about the robbery. Since then, Saleem was blackmaili­ng them and took 70 gold pendants of various sizes from the stolen goods for settling the matter and the balance was distribute­d between other members of the gang. Mr Reddy said that Imran planned the robbery to overcome his financial crisis. “On the day of the offence, Mujahed, Zubair and Shoukath chased the auto and Mujahed threw chilli powder on Amjad Ali who was sitting in the auto. Zubair snatched the jewellery bag and fled from the scene,” Mr Reddy said. Waseem, Mujeeb and Azam were standing a little distance away to support them. Police nabbed Imran and his associates and handed them over to Begum Bazaar police station along with the stolen goods for further action
