Karnataka MLA and Bengaluru Developmen­t minister, K.J. George who is in the midst of controvers­y of harassing a police official M.K. Ganapati who committed suicide in Madikeri on July 7, resigned from the cabinet. After handing over the resignatio­n, Mr George said, “In 45 years of public life, I never harassed any one. Twenty-six year-old Hyderabadi, Rohit Khandelwal, has become the first Indian to win ‘Mr. World’. Mr. Rohit is a television actor with previous acting gigs in shows such as Million Dollar Girl, Ashiqui and MTV’s the Big F. Mohammad Shahid, hockey legend known for his silken dribbling skills, passed away on Wednesday morning with multiple organ failure at a hospital. An Olympic Games gold medalist at Moscow in 1980 under V. Baskaran, Shahid was considered one of India’s greatest hockey players. He was also part of the team that won a silver medal at the Delhi Asian Games in 1982 and bronze in the Seoul Asiad in 1986.
