- DC CORRESPONDENT JANGAON (WARANGAL), JULY 24

Jangaon resounded with “Jangama zilla, maa gudela ninda” slogans on Sunday as the people started hoisting Jangaon flags on their rooftops and gates expressing their desire for a new district.

The flag was designed by the JAC members as part of their agitation for Jangaon district. The JAC conducted a programme to hoist the flag at the RTC junction in which people from all walks of life took part. JAC chairman Dashmanth Reddy unfurled the flag.

JAC leaders and others sang songs praising Telangana and Jangaon. Later, Jangaon flags were distributed to every house and hoisted by the residents on their rooftops or tied to their gates.

JAC leaders said they would not stop their agitation until Jangaon district is formed.

“We will not back off from our demand. No matter how many obstacles we face, we will continue to fight for Jangaon district. No one can stop us by filing police cases against us. The people of Jangaon are united in this fight. There is no force more powerful than the people,” said Mr Dashmanth Reddy.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders took up relay hunger strike from Sunday.

JAC leaders said Jangaon was a hotbed during the Telangana agitation but the people feel cheated after statehood was achieved. "The people of Jangaon who fought for Telangana expecting a separate district are disappointed today,” M. Raju of the JAC.
