SCHOOL VAN MOWS DOWN SCOOTERIST

A 49-year-old private sector employee was killed in an accident in Madhapur. The victim, G. Venkanna’s scooter was hit by a van belonging to the Chirec Public School on Monday. Venkanna was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident but it broke when he fell from the bike. G. Venkanna, hailing from Warangal, was working for NS Tools at Bachupally and was staying at KPHB with his wife and three children. On Monday at around 12.30 pm he was driving towards KPHB from the IT Park in Gachibowli. “When he was crossing Bharat Petrol pump, the speeding van belonging hit his scooter from behind,” Madhapur sub inspector M. Srinivasul­u said. Venkanna fell down and came under the left rear tyre of the bus. He was rushed to hospital but died midway. Police registered a case for causing death through rash driving and detained van driver V. Srinivas Rao. There were around 15 kids in the school van at the time of the accident. They were shifted to another vehicle. The body was handed over to his family after post-mortem.
