Man jumps off roof but kills neighbour below

his skull and is now battling for life.

The deceased, Saradha, was sleeping on a cot outside her home. Around midnight, Selvamurugan, an auto-rickshaw driver and her neighbour, came home drunk and picked up a fight with his wife and brother. Later, around 12.30 am, Selvamurugan climbed the stairs to the terrace of the three-storey building and leapt from a height of around 30 ft. Residents of heard a loud thud and found him bleeding on the cot on which Saradha was asleep. Both were rushed them a hospital where doctors declared Saradha dead. A case under IPC sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 309 (attempt to suicide) has been registered.
