Sunny stopped at U.S. stadium
Not a popular figure in Florida (USA), India’s former captain Sunil Gavaskar was denied entry into the stadium while India was playing West Indies in the second Twenty20 match on Sunday.
Despite being one of the commentators with the official broadcasters, the security alert at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill failed to recognise Gavaskar, according to a news website. They did not hence let him enter.
Tweets of a cricket fan called Peter Della Penna, with the handle @PeterDellaPenna confirmed the report.
“Standing outside gate being denied entry again as India team is here. I feel better today though because they’re denying Sunny Gavaskar too,” Peter wrote according to the website.
Despite Gavaskar’s angry minder telling the security that he needed to be inside the stadium.
Peter also wrote that Gavaskar’s minder was very upset and asked the security person if he knew who Gavaskar was but he wouldn’t budge. “I don’t care who the hell he is, he ain’t getting in,” is what he said in response according to Peter. However, Gavaskar appeared calm and even obliged to click selfies with fans waiting outside the stadium, according to one of Peter’s tweets.
