- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD AUG. 29

A slab of an under-construction multi-storeyed building collapsed in the early hours of Monday in Madhapur, severely injuring two construction workers.

The slab, which was laid on Sunday night, collapsed after one of the supporting pillars gave away. Police has registered a case against the management of Ayyanna Constructions, the builders.

While the building had construction permission from the GHMC, the West Zone town planning authorities have been asked to investigate the reason for the collapse.

Construction of the multi-storeyed building at Kakatiya Hills started in January by Ayyanna Constructions. The slab work of the cellar and the first floor was complete and on Sunday night, workers had laid the slab for the second floor.

On Monday morning, around 15 workers were working at the site. After completing the work, 11 of them climbed down while four of them were still on top. Supervisor Mr Subba Rao was monitoring the work.

Mr Apparao (35), a native of Srikakulam, and Mr Venkat Reddy (25), a native of Prakasam district, both residents of Parvatha Nagar in Madhapur, were struck in the debris and were severely injured. They were rushed to Maxcure Hospital in Madhapur and their condition is said to be stable.

“We are verifying the details behind the mishap. Based on the evidence we will proceed with the investigation," said Mr Chandrashekar, subinspector of Madhapur.
