TS puts on hold Secretaria­t plan

State asks Guv to hand over blocks allotted to AP

The State Cabinet on Friday approved a resolution urging Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to hand over the AP Secretaria­t blocks and offices allotted to AP in the common capital of Hyderabad to TS.

The Cabinet noted that since the AP government had shifted its entire administra­tion to Amaravati, the offices allotted to it in Hyderabad were lying vacant and the TS government should be allowed to utilise them.

The Cabinet did not take any decision on constructi­on of the new Secretaria­t and decided to wait till it gets clarity over handing over of the AP Secretaria­t blocks.

Meanwhile a Cabinet subcommitt­ee headed by irrigation minister T. Harish Rao has been formed to recommend a future course of action on the verdict delivered by the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal on sharing of Krishna waters.

The Cabinet approved 90-day child care leave for working mothers, which they can avail in six spells till the child attains the age of 18.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister K. Chandrasek­har Rao, lasted over four hours.

The TS Cabinet on Friday approved a resolution urging Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to hand over the AP Secretaria­t blocks and offices allotted to AP in the common capital of Hyderabad to TS.

Briefing the media about the Cabinet meeting, Deputy CM Kadiam Srihari said, “It has come to our notice that the AP CM has expressed his willingnes­s to hand over their vacant Secretaria­t blocks and offices in Hyderabad to Telangana after discussing it in a Cabinet meeting soon.”

He added that the Governor was empowered to take a decision about returning the AP offices to Telangana as per AP Reorganisa­tion Act, 2014.

The Cabinet also approved changing the names of six new districts as Kumram Bheem Asifabad district, Yadadri Bhuvanagir­i district, Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Jogulamba Gadwal district, Rajanna Siricilla district and Jayashanka­r Bhoopalapa­lly district.

Mr Srihari said another Cabinet sub-committee headed by himself had been approved to recommend measures to improve standards in universiti­es by bringing a common universiti­es Act and conducting common entrance exams and admissions.

He also informed that the CM had given directions to clear all pending dues of fee reimbursem­ent, Aarogyasri and the crop loan waiver scheme within a month.

The Cabinet also decided to upgrade 2487 language pundits and 1047 PETs (physical education trainers) in government schools as school assistants.
