Temple land unites TS MLAs
Parties want TS control on Bhadrachalam temple lands
A new tussle between AP and TS is likely to arise over temple lands.
Bifurcation of the state has resulted in many instances of temples being located in one state and their lands in another.
Bhadrachalam temple, located in Telangana state, has a major portion of its lands in AP.
TTD is located in AP and it has lands in Telangana state. Bhadrachalam Devasthanam owns only 299 acres in TS while it has over 1,048 acres in AP.
During Question Hour in the Assembly on Tuesday, all Members demanded the state government “bring back” the lands belonging to the Bhadrachalam temple from AP.
TRS MLA Jalagam Venkata Rao said that TS has been left with only the Bhadrachalam temple while “all its assets have gone to AP”.
He said even 11 acres land on which a theme park had been proposed too has gone to AP. CPM MLA Sunnam Rajaiah said Bhadrachalam Devasthanam has 1,048 acres in Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and other districts of AP and in Telangana there are only 299 acres.
Replying to this, endowments minister A. Indrakaran Reddy said that the TS government will take up the issue with the AP government.
BJP MLA G. Kishan Re-ddy also demanded the government to “bring back” the temple lands. He said “Telangana should get all the lands belonging to Bhadrachalam temple from AP, we need not to worry about this issue, TTD has many lands In Telangana”.
