- DC CORRESPONDENT

Four persons including a home guard and an SPF constable from TS Genco were killed and as many as 10 persons were injuried in a major accident on the Hyderabad-Nagarjuna Sagar Highway on Monday night.

The mishap occurred when a truck heading towards Hyderabad ran over the victims while they were clearing a grassloaded tractor which turned turtle on the main road, blocking the road for at least 2km. The deceased were K. Balunayak, a home guard working with Peddavoora Police station, Y. Mariyadas working as SPF constable with TS Genco, Asif and N. Chandraiah Yadav.

According to cops, a tractor loaded with grass was heading to Godamadka tanda from Peddavoora. When the vehicle reached Dayyalagandi village on the Nagarjuna Sagar highway, the driver lost control on the vehicle, due to which the tractor trolley turned turtle covering the complete road. Balunayak who completed his duty was going home when he found the vehicle and informed the Nagarjuna Sagar police station.

SI Y. Gowri Naidu and his team arrived at the spot to clear the road. Due to the roadblock, vehicles on both sides queued up. Meanwhile, a cement-loaded truck, coming from Vijayawada towards Hyderabad, overtook all the vehicles that were lined up and came ahead till the tractor, without noticing it. Many people from the vehicles got down to have a look at the vehicle.
