Student jumps to death in college

Troubled after being scolded by the college principal over a petty issue, a second year Intermedia­te student committed suicide in Siddipet by jumping from the college building on Thursday. The victim has been identified as Errolla Bhavani.

According to Police, Bhavani was a second year Intermedia­te CEC student in Sai Chaitanya Junior College. Her younger sister Shivani is also studying first year in the same college.

On Wednesday as her bus pass expires, Bhavani burrowed `100 from a friend and was planning to get the renewal done in the evening while returning home. Meanwhile, one of her classmates complained of losing `100 from her bag. When the staff checked the bags of all students, `100 was found in Bhavani’s bag. Accusing her of theft, the college Principal Brahmanand­a Reddy scolded the girl in front of other students, due to which she was troubled. She was calm after reaching home also and did not have food at night. Later her sister Shivani told her parents about what happened in the school.

On Thursday morning, the sisters went to school as usual, but Bhavani was still depressed and during the interval, she jumped from the fourth floor of the building and committed suicide.

Police registered a suspicious death case and handed over the body to her parents after postmortem. The case is

A STUDENT FROM the same class reported `100 being stolen. On checking, the girl was found to be having `100 and she was blamed to have stolen the money.
