SECUNDERAB­AD CLINCH VICTORY IN THRILLER

Zoroastria­n Club of Secunderab­ad continued their emphatic performanc­e to clinch a thrilling encounter against Nagpur in the Jiji Irani Challenge Cup being played at the Hakimpet grounds in Hyderabad.

Opting to bat first, Secunderab­ad managed to put 206 on the board with the help of skipper Zarkash’s blistering knock of 95 which included 12 fours and 5 sixes while Jamsheed scored 61 with 9 boundaries.

Nagpur began the chase well as their opener Danush Doongaji scored a brilliant 126 with 13 fours and 7 sixes. However, Danush’s hardwork went in vain as Secunderab­ad snatched victory on the last ball to win the match by a run. Jamsheed snared 2 for 16.

In the another match, put into bat Surat folded for a mere 135 in 28.5 overs as half the side fell victim to poor running between the wickets.

Jamshedpur succesfull­y chased down the total with 1.5 overs left. Kaiwan was the highest scorer for the winning team with 33 while Jaksis contribute­d an unbeaten 22. Brief Scores

Surat 135 in 28.5 overs (Poras Bharucha 28) lost to Jamshedpur 136 in 28.1 overs (Kaiwan 33, Jaksis 22 n.o; Sharuk 3/39, Adil 2/25, Kersi 2/9).
