Hyderabad girls maintained their winning run to emerge champions in the South Zone Inter-State U-16 tournament played at Vizianagaram.

In the finals, Hyderabad bowlers did well to restrict Andhra to 90 for 6 in 30 overs. The duo of G. Trisha and Laxmi Prasanna picked two wickets each while conceding 6 and 18 runs respectively.

However, Andhra bowlers hit back hard and managed to take the game to the last over but Trisha Poojitha anchored the chase for Hyderabad and made 42 crucial runs to guide her side to a two-wicket victory with three balls to spare.

Sindhuja and Manasa were the best bowlers for Andhra, taking 2/20 and 4/17 respectively.

In an earlier match, the Hyderabad girls notched a comfortable victory against Kerala.

Bowling first, Hyderabad restricted Kerala at 111 for 6 in 30 overs. Lakshmi Prasanna was the highest wicket taker for Hyderabad as she scalped two wickets.

Later, Vanka Pooja and Trisha Poojitha anchored the chase, as the duo scored an unbeaten 37 and 27 to earn an eight-wicket victory for Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad’s senior women’s team continued their poor show as they lost by 9 runs to Madhya Pradesh in the Senior Women’s T20 League that was played at Rajkot.

Put in to bat, Madhya Pradesh scored 122 for 6 in 20 overs. In response, Hyderabad messed up the chase and could not capitalise on their highest scorer Arundhathi Reddy’s 37 thus falling short of the target. Nidhi B. took 3 wickets while conceeding 12 runs for Madhya Pradesh.

Earlier, Mithali Raj’s power packed century led Railways to a nine–run victory over Hyderabad in the Senior T20 League.

In response to the 168-run target set by Railways, Hyderabad carried their innings well as S.K. Sravanthi Naidu hit a unbeaten 73 and D. Ramya scored a brilliant 68. However, their efforts went in vain as Hyderabad failed to chase down the total and lost a close encounter. Poonam Yadav snapped 2 wickets for 27 for the Railways.
