HPS, Andrews win big

The race to the national finals has got hotter in the Indian School Basketball League as 12 teams from girls and 16 from boys are eyeing for the coveted slots

Girls from Hyderabad Public School located at Begumpet sneaked past MGM High School with a huge margin 31-16 in the Indian School Basketball League conducted by the Hyderabad District Basketball Associatio­n.

Twelve girls teams and 16 boys teams are vying for honours in the tournament. The winners in these matches will confirm their place to contend in the national finals.

St Andrews and Delhi Public School girls also clinched comfortabl­e wins over their rivals with the scorelines reading 26-12 and 26-13 respective­ly.

In other matches, Future kids and St Pious hoopsters held their nerves to defeat their opponents.

In the boys category, St Paul’s scored an easy 51-15 victory over Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School. Nihal Singh of St Paul’s topped the table with 20 points for the victors. Future Kids had an easy task to seal a 45-19 victory over St Martin’s School.

Obul Reddy boys defeated All Saints with a 29-16 scoreline. Meanwhile, AECS toppled St Joseph’s School with the scoreline reading 34-23. Md Sameer who scored 19 points to lead AECS to victory. stood as the second top scorer among boys.

Future Kids School 24 (Aastha 7, Adithi 6, Navya 5) bt All Saints 12 (Abhinaya 6).

Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet 31 (Subhalaksh­mi 6, Y. Hansa 7, Arpitha M. 6, N. Pragathi 4) bt MGM School 16 (M. Sai Preethi 4, Kavya 4).

St Pious School 20 (Rakshitha 12, Praharsha 4) bt MGM School 12 (Amritha 5, Chandini 4).

Delhi Public School, Hyderabad 24 (Spiruha 6, Ishika 6, Vyshnavu 4) bt St Joseph’s School, King Koti 18 (Disha 6, Sanjana 5).

Boys category: Future Kids School 45 (Aneesh M. 8, Adyan 14, Bhargav 6) bt St Martin’s 19 (Sai Kamal 10).
