- U. SUDHAKAR REDDY | DC

Central Crime Station sleuths probing Ashtalakshmi Jewellers MD Neel Sundar's confession in the black money conversion case has served notices on five top jewellers in the city under CrPC Section 91 to produce documents and under Sec. 160 to appear as witnesses.

Notices were served on Shree Kalpataru Jewellers India, Premraj Shantilal Jain Jewellers and Sai Baba Jewellers in Pot Market on Thursday. CCS sources said notices were also served on Tibarumal Jewellers and P. Satyanarayana and Sons Jewellers in the city.

The CCS officials probing the Musaddilal Jewellers case in which black money worth `109 crore was converted said, “An amount of `28.37 crore was transferred from the account of Vaishnavi Bullion into the accounts of Ashta Lakshmi Gold through RTGS for purchasing gold belonging to the arrested accused Neel Sundar. In turn Neel Sundar (A13) diverted the `28.37 crore to various firms for purchase of gold and distributed it to known persons who had given the amount to Neel Sundar for exchange.”

Police said Neel Sundar has confessed to them and revealed the names of the jewellers. Enforcement Directorate inspected Shree Kalpataru Jewellers and seized the records.

Mr Himanshu Bapna of Shree Kalpataru Jewellers said, “We were served notices under Section 91 and 160 of CrPC by CCS. The notice came to us at 1 pm on Thursday asking us to appear at 11 am. The ASI who served the notices went to Begumpet in search of the address and came late to Pot market. My name is also wrongly printed as Himanshu Agarwal. We don’t deal in cash and all our deals are via RTGS only. Enforcement Directorate took away the documents.”

When DC contacted Tibarumal Jewellers in Banjara Hills the staff claimed that they have no idea of the notices. Mr Dharmesh, brother of Ashok Jain of Premraj Shantilal Jain said, “We have no connections with Musaddilal or Ashtalakshmi.”

Mr Susheel Jain of Saibaba Jewellers said, “We have received a CCS notice. We purchased gold from Ashtalakshmi for `20 lakh. CCS is gathering only information regarding it.”

P. Satyanarayan and Sons refused to comment.
