3 killed in ORR smash

Rammed from behind, victim’s car ricochets from fence to divider

Three persons returning from Yadadri after having darshan at the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple were killed in an accident on the ORR on Thursday, Three others including the driver of the sustained grevious injuries.

The mishap occurred when a speeding car rammed into their car, which was pushed to the railing on the left, ricocheted to the right and came to a halt atop the divider.

Police suspects that the driver of the first car, Paritala Ravi Chandra, working as a programme manager at the Telangana Academy of Skill and Knowledge, was drunk. His blood samples were sent for examinatio­n for alcohol content.

The victims were identified as V. Karthik, M. Thirumales­h and K. Narsing Rao. Two others, K. Balram and The wreckage of a car in which three persons were killed and two seriously injured in a mishap on the OUter Ring Road near Ghatkesar. Raghu, survived with injuries.

All the five were residents of Hayatnagar and worked in private firms.

Police said that the accident occurred when they slowed down on the ORR near Ghatkesar.

“We suspect Ravi Chandra (the driver of the first car) was drunk as we found cooked chicken in his vehicle. His blood samples have been sent for a BAC test, after which we can know if he was drunk.” Ghatkesar inspector B Prakash said.

He said a case under Section 304-a of IPC had been filed against Ravi Chandra for causing death due to rash and negligent driving. DC CORRESPOND­ENT HYDERABAD JAN. 26
