Senior citizens’ postal grievance
We would like to bring to the notice of the Union communications minister and others of a grievance. We, G. Prabhavathi aged 74 and G.S.V. Subramanyam aged 76, are residents of Neredmet, Secunderabad, and having postal savings bank and other relevant accounts. We are feeling deeply upset over the attitude of a sub post master.
Our postal SB account number is 9747442728. To this account, yearly interests were not credited for many years. We incurred huge financial losses during this year in between non-computerisation and computerisation of the accounts. We request a complete verification of our SB accounts. The present SPM, Neredmet, is not receiving SB, MIS, and RD account books for entries. One MIS No. 9747466436 had matured on December 26 last. We appeared before the office. The SPM went on leave. The officer in charge did not take any action. The present SPM took a long time for closure and revival. In between the period, we incurred a loss of interest. The SPM opened a new MIS.
The interest for four months was not credited to my SB account. Due to this, we incurred a loss in thousands.
In year 2016, my `200 monthly RD matured and closed after 10 years. SPM has given 10 years’ principal amount with interest only. The excess amount paid after 10 years was not refunded to me. We urge the authorities to give directions to get the SB, MIS, and RD account books updated to avoid penalisation on RD accounts.
