Gladiators trap hapless Eagles

The Gladiators started well and led 18-12 at half-time before emerging winners by four points. Mallikarju­n was adjudged Best Raider and Sri Krishna was the Best Defender

Gadwal Gladiators sealed a 30-26 victory over Nalgonda Eagles in the Telangana Premier Kabaddi League being played at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Hanmakonda, Warangal. The tournament is organised by the Telangana Kabaddi Associatio­n.

In the first two raids Gadwal accounted 6 points which left their opponents shell-shocked. The Gladiators kept attacking thereby shaking up their opponents’ confidence. By half-time the Gladiators posted a lead of 18-12. Fighting back, Nalgonda surpassed their rivals score in the second half but failed in the final raids as they were under pressure with the Gladiators in lead.

The Gadwal side earned 12 points in the second half to emerge winners by four points. P. Mallikarju­n was adjudged the Best Raider while S. Sri Krishna was honoured as the Best Defender.

In another match, Siddipet Stalions defeated Warangal Warriors 32-20. It was an easy victory for the Siddipet side as Warangal couldn’t gain enough points to overcome the Stalions. B. Nikhil of Warangal Warriors was chosen as the Best Raider and Jeeva Gopal of Siddipet Stalions took the Best Defender award.

Warangal won the match by 12 points which is a huge margin. The Stalions are now looking forward to maintainin­g their winning streak in the glitzy tournament.
