-

Hyderabad: The Modi government has identified “unrecognised” and “unsung heroes” and honoured them with Padma awards, Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu said.

Speaking after felicitating Padma winners from the state at the city unit of the Swarna Bharat Trust, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi selected “unsung heroes” from rural areas who are doing selfless service to society.

“Recognising the ‘unrecognised’ and ‘unsung heroes’... that is the speciality,” he said.

Union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy said it was for the first time that talent from Bharat has been identified and honoured with Padma awards, which was “earlier restricted to Delhi”. — PTI
