Trash burning sparks fire

A fire broke out at a plastic godown in Bowenpally on Sunday due to the carelessne­ss of neighbours who were burning garbage near the godown.

The plastic material kept in front of the godown also caught fire.

Mr G. Venkatesh the Station Fire Officer said, “The godown was used to store PVC pipes and other irrigation pipes. A lot of stock was kept outside the godown. They caught fire as garbage burnt on the neighbouri­ng site. Three fire fighting units with tenders and one mist bullet was rushed to spot to control the fire. There were no causalitie­s. The total loss is estimated at around `3 lakh.”
