61 pc turnout for UP Phase-III polls
Lucknow: The third phase of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh recorded 61.16 per cent polling. In 2012, this phase had recorded 59.96 per cent polling. Chief electoral officer T. Venkatesh said that the highest polling was recorded in Mehmoodabad in Sitapur at 72.4 percentage and the lowest was in Kanpur Cantt. with 50.01 per cent turnout. The chief electoral officer said that in some constituencies, voters had boycotted polling in protest against lack of development but the local officials later persuaded them to take part in the polling.
