2 ISIS SIBLINGS ARRESTED BY GUJARAT ATS

Rajkot/Ahmedabad, Feb 26: The Gujarat ATS on Sunday arrested two brothers with suspected ISIS links who allegedly hatched plans to conduct “lone-wolf” attacks in the state.

Wasim Ramodiya and Naeem, who have MCA and BCA degrees respective­ly, were allegedly in contact with ISIS handlers and were planning to target religious places, police said, adding they have recovered bombmaking material from them. Based on a specific informatio­n about their alleged activities “inspired by the jihadi ideology of ISIS”, ATS officials nabbed them in an early morning operation.

Rajkot, Feb. 26: Two suspected ISIS terrorists, who were allegedly planning to carry out serial blasts at religious places in Gujarat in the next couple of days, were arrested by the state AntiTerror­ism Squad (ATS) from Rajkot and Bhavnagar, the ATS said on Sunday.

The two, who are brothers, were in touch with ISIS operatives overseas through social media, police said, adding they have recovered bombmaking material from them.

The two were allegedly planning to carry out blasts at religious places like Chotila.

“Acting on specific informatio­n, the Gujarat ATS team has nabbed two suspected terrorists having links with ISIS,” AntiTerror­ism Squad’s deputy superinten­dent of police K.K. Patel said. “They are siblings, identified as Waseem and Naeem Ramodiya. While Waseem was arrested from Rajkot, his brother was arrested from Bhavnagar,” he said. “They were ready with all material to make bombs and were planning to carry out blasts at religious places in the next two days,” Patel told reporters. — PTI
