Traffic cops fail to remove car parked in front of garage
On February 7, around 9 pm, I returned home in my car and found a Hyundai Eon car parked in front of my garage that opens to the road. The car was locked. At 9.30 pm, I called the police, as the traffic patrol ends at 9 pm. I asked for the cops’ help to move the car, and was told that they would come and check after half an hour. No one came, and I called the traffic P.S. who also said that someone would be sent. I again called the police mobile at 11 pm and they said they would reach shortly. I waited and then called them again at 11.45 pm and was told there was nothing they could do! The person gave me the number of the traffic control room, 27852482. When I called this number, I was told that they would send a tow-truck but not in the night. However, shortly after 12 am, a constable and a traffic cop arrived almost simultaneously.
I asked them if they could lift the car, a tiny Hyundai Eon, from the back and wheel it backward to a few feet. However the driver of the police mobile van who seemed quite indifferent said labour would have to be requisitioned for that. The traffic constable consulted his senior at the control room, took a picture of the scene, and assured me that a fine would be imposed. Later, I noticed that two more people were sitting in the police van. So, there were altogether five people, and yet I was left helpless. I finally took my vehicle and parked it at the Nizam Club for the night. Why are cops so indifferent to such situations? Fareed Ahmed, 23393212.
