A 23-year-old woman sub inspector committed suicide at the National Industrial Security Academy quarters on the NISA campus on Tuesday.

Police said Swati Chauhan, who was posted as sub inspector with the Central Industrial Security Force unit at the Pune airport, had come to NISA to meet a distant relative.

Police said, Swati Chauhan, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, completed training as a CISF SI in 2016, and was posted at the ASG wing in Pune airport. She took leave from February 24 till March 2 saying that she was going to Hyderabad to meet a relative.

On Friday she came to the NISA campus in Hyderabad to meet her relative Neelima Singh who is also working as an SI here.

She was staying at Quarter No: 59 on the campus allotted to Neelima.

On Tuesday, Neelima went to work, and Swati was alone at the quarters. “When Neelima returned home after lunch she found Swati hanging on the ceiling,” Jawaharnagar SI N. Venkanna said.

Police registered a case of suspicious death. They said they did not find any suicide note in the room, but suspect that she was suffering from depression, and had come to Hyderabad to get out of it.

“However, we are checking all other angles and are trying to talk to her parents to know the reason,” police said.

The body was taken to the mortuary for autopsy.
