SC TAKES UP ‘CASH FOR VOTE’ SCAM
The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on a special leave petition filed by YSR Congress Party MLA Alla Rama Krishna Reddy in the cash-for-vote scam case.
A bench of Justices S.A. Bobde and L. Nageswara Rao issued the notice and sought his reply on the SLP which is directed against an order of the Hyderabad High Court quashing the trial court verdict for a probe. The petitioner prayed for registration of a case against the CM under the the Prevention of Corruption Act contending that the court had erroneously rejected his plea.
Cyberabad SOT police busted a gambling racket in Mailardevpally. Police conducted raids at the Katedan truck parking area and nabbed seven gamblers. The police also seized cash and mobile phones from them.
According to police, they got a tip-off and raided the truck parking area in the Katedan industrial area on Sunday night and found seven persons gambling by playing cards.
They are Mohammed Taher, 30, Ismail, 36, Abdul Sami, 34, Shaik Saleem, 40, Moinuddin, 38, Abdul Ismail, 26, and Mohammed Babu, 25.
Police said they were working on trucks as drivers and cleaners and were playing and betting with cash. Police seized `38,700 and eight mobile phones. The arrested persons and the seized material were handed over to Mailardevpally police.
