2 Metro stations at Parade Ground

Stretch is likely to see changes in traffic patterns

- KANIZA GARARI | DC HYDERABAD, MARCH 21

There will be two metro rail stations at Parade Ground, one for the train from Faluknuma to Jubilee Bus Stand, and the other from Hitec City — Begumpet, connect to the Parade Ground and then go on to Nagole.

In the middle will be the interchanging station where commuters can switch from one side to the other.

The total station area at Parade Ground is 36,140 square feet. The whole stretch is going to see a major change as the traffic at road level will be constant once the metro train starts.

A senior officer explained, “If the metro train from Nagole has to be brought to Begumpet, than the Parade Ground station for the first level has to be made ready. Work on the top level station will also be carried out soon.”

Parade Ground station will be the highest — at a height of 60 feet or 20 metres. At present work on the viaduct from JBS is going on as is work from the Secunderabad Clock Tower.

A senior officer explained, “These are detailed and specialised engineering works hence the points of connection to the station area will be carried out.”

According to the engineers, the interconnection work has been taken up according to the structural height and further works of connecting by creating more pillars on the sides will be carried out.

Those coming from the Faluknuma end will get down at the highest or the top station level. Those who are coming from Begumpet will get down at the level below. Both these stations will be connected to the concourse level via a staircase and escalators.

All the metro rail stations have two levels — the platform level, which is on the top where the trains will be running and the concourse level which is the first level of the station as people climb from the road.

This level will have a ticket window, retail area and the technical staff who will be monitoring the train's movement. On the platform level only those who have tickets will be allowed.
