AGORC give Telangana Police stick

Despite taking an early lead in the 16th minute, the Telangana Police defence was breached twice as the cops lost 1-2

AGORC defeated Telangana Police 2-1 in the ‘A’ Division Rahim League football match played at Goshmahal football ground.

Telangana Police tried to keep their rivals at the bay by scoring their first goal in the 16th minute of the match. Breaking away from the opponents, Farooq struck the ball diagonally past the goalkeeper and into the net.

However, AGORC pulled level through Rafiq, who sent the ball thudding into the rival net in the 31st minute. At half-time, the scores read 1-1.

The second half turned out to be interestin­g as both the teams tightened their defences. After a lot of struggle Moazzam broke the deadlock in the 75th minute via a kick struck from long distance as AGORC increased the lead and then hung on to it to seal the game.

In another match played at the AOC football ground, the hosts comfortabl­y edged past State Bank of Hyderabad 2-0.

The start of the match saw neck-to-neck competitio­n as both the teams matched each other. But, the 35th minute goal struck by AOC’s Zothan Puia changed the way the hosts handled the match.

However, the visitors didn’t lose faith and fought hard to score goals. But, it seemed like AOC defenders and goalkeeper built a wall in front of goal to negate their rivals. By half-time the score read 1-0 in favour of the hosts.

In the second half, AOC got very less scoring chances as SBH began to block the attacks via a tight defence. They managed to do a good job for most part though before S. Mishra netted the ball just two minutes from time to script a 2-0 victory for AOC.

In another match played at AOC football ground Tarnaka FC drubbed State Bank of India 5-0 with all ease.

The Tarnaka side started swiftly as Rehan scored his first goal in the 9th minute. 10 minutes later, Yousuf doubled the lead.

SBI were left clueless as they succumbed to early pressure applied by their rivals as the half-time score read 2-0 in Tarnaka’s favour.

In the second half, Tarnaka massacred their rivals with complete dominance. In the 50th minute the ball was kicked into the net by Vikas.

The SBI goalkeeper was all at sea as the opponents kept up the attacks. Within 10 minutes after the goal by Vikas, Zaid’s shot precisely found the net. The final goal of Tarnaka side was struck by Varun in the 63rd minute as the match ended 5-0.

Earlier, in another match played at Goshamahal football ground, Fateh Hyderabad sealed a victory over Telangana Police with a 2-0 score.

Gurtej and Lalrozama scored goals at 38th and 43rd minutes respective­ly for Fateh Hyderabad as the Telangana Police looked helpless.
