SC ON AYODHYA CHEATING IN EXAMS
The Supreme Court is right in advising rival parties in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute to go in for an out-of-court settlement. The dispute relates to the ownership of a piece of land in Ayodhya, UP, on which an ancient mosque once stood. A judgment by the SC in favour of one of the parties may legally resolve the issue but the controversy will persist.

Peace be given a chance. I appeal to my Muslim brothers to take guidance from Suleh Hadibiyah and act in the larger interests of the society. Mediation by the SC is good idea. Let's give it a try.

If the apex court is serious about settling the matter out-of-court, it should invite religious scholars and intellectuals with a history background, without involving politicians including minsters from both the communities.

The option of an out-of-court settlement seems impractical. This was tried out unsuccessfully and hence this became a legal issue.

It's shocking that a 15-year-old boy jumped from the third floor of a building where he was writing an exam (Students jumps; DC, March 22). What's happening to the young generation? First, they do wrong things, and then think of suicide by way of an escape act. Worse is the gumption on the part of some child rights activists to hold a brief for such actions and put the blame on the school.
