No major project on civic body list

The GHMC will spend `3,026.73 crore to build infrastruc­ture in the city in the 2017-18 financial year. No major project have been proposed for the year.

The GHMC had proposed a budget of `5,643 crore which was approved by the standing committee headed by Mayor B. Rammohan. This shows a minor increase of `43 crore over 2016-17.

Revenue expenditur­e has been pegged at `2,616,27 crore for the upkeep and operation of infrastruc­ture and staff salaries.

Sanitation tops the agenda and other main components include streetligh­ting and urban community developmen­t. Special thrust would on creating modern public convenienc­es, constructi­on modern markets and graveyards developmen­t.

`50 crore has been allotted for burial grounds and `55.60 crore on community buildings.

The standing committee can make changes to the draft Budget and introduce new schemes and projects but it restricted itself to a minor changes.

THE GHMC WILL give special thrust to create modern public convenienc­es, constructi­on modern markets and graveyards developmen­t. The emphasis would be on sanitation.
