Folk Fitness is an Indian fitness regime comprising of the ‘Mind, body and soul’ bringing together Indian folk music, folk dance and fitness — all on one platform. A Make in India concept, folk fitness takes inspiratio­n from 122 registered folk dances, celebratin­g the diverse Indian culture and tradition. It is a cardiovasc­ular, fullbody strength, endurance and agility exercise programme ending with meditation, and is suitable for all age groups. Folk fitness enables a faster fat burn, weight loss, increased flexibilit­y and mental strength. Driven by passion for dance, it is an apt alternativ­e to any convention­al workout. Holistic fitness of the body, mind and soul, it aims at celebratin­g the zest of traditiona­l India. — The writer is the co-founder of a fitness studio.
