‘NOT HERE FOR THE RECORDS’

Venkatesh says that he’s happy with his career so far, and doesn’t feel pressured to deliver hits

-

Venkatesh has a huge fan following, especially among women, but unlike many today who eye the first day records and involve fans heavily in these mathematics, the actor never encourages his fans to do the same.

“I never get into this numbers game nor do I give any kind of statement regarding them. There are many blockbusters and silent hits in my career, but I never examined whether they broke records or not. If the producers and distributors are happy with the film’s success, that’s enough,” he says.

He adds that he is never under the pressure to deliver another hit after a blockbuster. “As an actor, I don’t want to stick to one image. I never encourage my fans to go overboard as it is not my personality. I always tell them to concentrate on their education and take cinema as just another part of life,” he explains.

“Each one makes their own choice. If a film is really good and creates records, fans are happy. There are some average films which do not deserve to be blockbusters and it is not right to force fans to make it into one,” reflects Venky, who believes that records are created, only to be broken. “Nothing is permanent. One week, a film creates records and the next week, another film breaks them. This is all a game and I like to do it in a balanced way, rather than involving fans,” he reveals.

“There have been occasions when my films were removed from the theatres just after 90 days and worried fans called me. But I told them that it is all business and to not be bothered. If the film deserves to be there for hundred days, it will, otherwise it will make space for another film!” Venkatesh observes.
