Chandan clinches singles trophy at veterans tennis
R. Chandan won the singles while D. Manish & Mohd Waheed took the doubles titles respectively at the TSTA Master Series tennis tournament for veterans, played at St Thomas High School tennis courts in Vinayak Nagar, Neredmet.
Chandan clearly dominated the final, clinching a thumping 8-1 win over Srinath Ummedisetti.
Chandan was at his best throughout the match. He kept picking points from start to finish.
Earlier in the semifinals, Chandan defeated Samala Ashok Kumar with a 8-4 verdict. The winner dished out a neat performance to clinch it with a decent margin.
Chandan took control of the match from the start and kept a tight leash on his opponent.
In the other semifinal, Srinath drubbed M. Chakravarthy with a 8-1 scoreline.
Srinath was in total command of the match and gave a tough time to his opponent as he made him run around the court before drilling winners.
In the doubles final, Manish and Waheed combined well to trounce Srinath and Amareshwar Chamarthi 8-4 to take home the trophy.
Manish and Waheed brought the best out and shone to gain points by putting their rivals under tremendous stress.
Both the teams were on even keel in the initial stages before Manish and Waheed began to pull away. Their confidence and understanding played a major role in fashioning the win.
The two came out with a decisive strategy and displayed good understanding between them to seal the match and walk triumphantly off the court.
Manish and Waheed displayed strong nerves and kept piling pressure at and cornering their opponents during crucial points, a tactic that helped them to a great extent in achieving a memorable win.

Singles final: R. Chandan bt Srinath Ummedisetti 8-1. Semifinals: R. Chandan bt Samala Ashok Kumar 8-4; Srinath Ummedisetti bt M. Chakravarthy 8-1.
Doubles final: D. Manish/ Mohd. Waheed bt Srinath Ummedisetti/ Amareshwar Chamarthi 8-4.
