Wakf Board to build properties to let out

-

The managing committee of the Telangana State Wakf Board has decided to invite global tenders to develop 11 prime properties in the city to lease out to global companies for generating revenue.

The committee on Monday resolved to remove hoardings from graveyards and premises of mosques.

The government has notified 3,700 square yards adjacent to Haj House, 1,500 sq. yds at Toli Chowki, one acre at the Outer Ring Road junction, a 10-acre parcel of land opposite GMR Aerospace Park, 2,000 square yards at Moin Manzil in 10 acres in Mamidipally, 500 square yards opposite Shadan College in Khairatabad, 1.2 acres at Hitech City and the old task force office at Begumpet.

The committee has decided to order mutawalis of mosques and caretakers of graveyards to take immediate steps to remove hoardings as there was no provision to instal hoardings, cutouts and flexes at those places.

The committee said most of the hoardings had been erected without permission at mosques and graveyards located in prime areas like Khairatabad, Ameerpet, Banjara Hills, MJ Market, Nampally, Abids and Tank Bund.

Wakf Board chairman Mohammed Saleem said that the committee had decided to take action against mutawalis and caretakers, if they failed to remove the hoardings.

According to Mr Saleem, the committee had quashed the proceedings issued by an erstwhile chief executive officer extending the term of the mutawali of Dargah Yousufian at Nampally, six months before the expiry of his term, which was contrary to the law.

He said the current mutawali would continue till the end of July, and the Board will take the dargah under its control.

He said the committee had resolved to enhance the existing rentals of Wakf properties and auction the right to collect offering items and hundi collections at major dargahs including Janpahad and Jahangir Peer. He said the board was losing revenue as the rights were not being auctioned.

The Wakf Board chairman said that the Board would take up the matter of giving pensions to widows at its next meeting, besides taking a decision on setting up a hospital and medical college for Muslims.
