HARISH: MK SHOWING RESULTS

- DC CORRESPONDENT

Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao on Wednesday informed engineers from Tamil Nadu who had come to study the ongoing Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha works that the schemes will put an end to water woes soon.

Mr Rao said Mission Kakatiya helped revive defunct and neglected tanks and recharged groundwater wherever the scheme was taken up. He said the silt from the tank used in farms helped in increased food production.

The irrigation minister interacted with Tamil Nadu engineers’ team who had visited Sangareddy and other places in the state to study completed and ongoing Mission Kakatiya works.

“Mission Kakatiya helped brought back the lost glory of many tanks in the State. We ensured proper removal of silt from the tank bed. The silt was transported to fields. Productivity has gone up wherever tank silt was used,” he said.

Mission Bhagiratha chief engineers Jagan Mohan Reddy, Krupakar Reddy, Vijaypal Reddy, Tamil Nadu engineers Senthil Kumar, Alagar Swami, Shakti Murgan, Kanan and others were present.

The Tamil Nadu engineers told their TS counterparts that Mission Bhagiratha generated a lot of curiosity among politicians and government officials. People need protected drinking water supply and Mission Bhagiratha is the right answer, they said.
