Police counsels roadside Romeos

A pseudo policeman, a student, two employees of private companies and 14 others who were arrested for harassing women from different areas of Rachakonda were counselled on Saturday. The arrested persons attended the counsellin­g session along with their families.

A 34-year old housewife complained that she had been receiving vulgar calls from unidentifi­ed persons.

On April 1, she received a call from one Rahul, who claimed to be a policeman. He inquired about her whereabout­s and abused her in vulgar language.

A few minutes later, a biker was found roaming around her house and making indecent gestures.

Neredmet police registered a case and traced the suspect P. Ramesh, a car driver and arrested him.

Mediapally police arrested Yedala Manohar Kumar, 23, a post graduate student of Anurag College in Mallapur for stalking a 23-year-old woman near her college since two years.

Earlier, he had proposed to her but she had rejected him. When she came to college to collect her hall ticket, he misbehaved with her.

On April 1, she went to Tarnaka for taking her exam. After the exam Manohar followed her on his bike and took her forcibly to keesara gutta and forced her to marry her.

Police said that her engagement was scheduled for last Wednesday, but Manohar went to her fiancee’s house and showed them her morphed pictures and the engagement was cancelled.

In the same way K. Saikumar, T. Venkatesh and G. Kranthi were arrested for harassing women. They are working for private firms.

In the last two weeks, 19 persons were arrested and remanded. They were all counselled on Saturday.
