Unions in TS say move ‘conspiracy’

Telangana state employees unions see a ‘conspiracy’ in the Union home ministry’s orders on sharing assets of the AP Council for Higher Education. They say AP benefited more than TS with the fresh orders as the APSCHE has no assets in Hyderabad.

It has only a bank balance of `135 crore, of which AP is eligible for a 52-per cent share amounting to `72 crore, while TS will get `63 crore. Besides, all AP-native employees should be allowed to continue in Hyderabad.

Employees demanded that the Union ministry give clarity whether its orders were applicable only to the APSCHE or all Schedule X institutions. They said there were 141 institutions having land and buildings in the city whose value is estimated over `70,000 crore.

“Though the Union home ministry order on APSCHE looks favourable for TS, in reality the AP got undue benefit. AP did not lose any assets because APSCHE has no land or buildings in Hyderabad. It got a bigger share in the bank balance of APSCHE, on the basis of population,” said Mr A. Padma Chary, president, Telangana Udyogula Sangham.

If this order is applicable to all Schedule IX institutions, it will be beneficial for TS, else it is of no use if it is confined only to APSCHE. The Centre should immediately give clarity on this, Mr Chary said.

Telangana Public Sector Employees Federation chairman S. Vijaya Mohan alleged that the AP government had brought pressure on the Centre to issue orders in its favour.

“First of all, there is no clarity whether the Centre’s orders is applicable for all Schedule X institutions or not. The order also permits all AP-native employees working in Hyderabad to continue working, which is not justifiable. How will TS natives will get jobs,” he said.
